New Video: Nicki Minaj Featuring Chris Brown, ‘Right By My Side’
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be in a relationship with Nicki Minaj, her new “Right By My Side” video (featuring Chris Brown) gives fans a pretty good idea. A Nicki boyfriend (played here by Nas!) would be responsible for gifting Nicki some posh-ass s***, like designer shopping sprees and expensive cars I can’t identify. But she’ll return the favor with a ton of slo-mo hair tossing. Fair trade, IMHO.
Director Benny Boom is really in love with the slo-mo effect, and we can’t be that mad at it — “Right By My Side” is a slow jam, y’all. Let’s save the strobe lights for later. (Or for “Starships.”) The clip opens as Nas starts loving up on Nicki hard: he buys her a new whip, he takes her shopping on a Rodeo Drive look-alike street, and then he just smokes a cigar on the hood of a car for a little bit. (Guys need their alone time, ladies. Don’t smother them.) Chris Brown steps in for his verse, which is basically just him on a sound stage, and then the video ends and you’re wondering if there was a story arc you missed. Nicki does look sad when she’s seated alone out by the grotto or whatever, but we’re not sure why — she just got a bunch of new clothes! And a car! Silver lining, sister. Look for it.

Bolingbrook Girl Drowns After ‘Bridge-Jumping’ Dare
Jordan Oliver, an 11-year-old Bolingbrook, Illinois girl, drowned in the retention pool behind her elementary school after a “bridge-jumping” dare on Tuesday.
WGN-TV reports that the girl, along with six friends, were taking turns climbing over the bridge railing at Indian Chase Meadows Park and jumping in. Jordan reportedly jumped in twice. The first time, she was able to swim back to shore, but the second time, she resurfaced at first, but then disappeared.
Police report that divers finally pulled her from the pond after 45 minutes. Attempts to resuscitate her failed, and she was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The fifth-grader’s father, Jamal Oliver, said in a statement on Wednesday that:
“She lit up everything. When you were around her, it was impossible not to feel good when she was around.”
According to the Naperville Sun Times, Louise Covelli, who lives near the pond, saw emergency crews respond to the scene on Tuesday. She went to visit the bridge on Wednesday, and stated:
“It’s so sad. Can you imagine what those kids feel like that were with her? Her friends? Poor little girl. Eleven years old.”
Jamal Oliver went on to say that:
“The girls she was with are good girls. We’re heartbroken for them and we hope they’re okay, we’re not here blaming anybody. We’re just here to love our daughter and to say thank you to the community.”
Grief counselors were present at Jordan Oliver’s school, Pioneer Elementary, on Wednesday. The school’s principal, Carmen Killingsworth, said in a statement, which was released by the district:
“We are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected loss of Jordan Oliver. She was a very sweet, very responsible young lady and was an outstanding student. We have activated our crisis counseling team to work with any students or staff members who feel the need to talk with someone about what happened. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.”

ok. I have extremely fine/thin hair, and it gets greasy fairly quickly. I shampoo every day, and usually can keep my hair looking clean up til the end of the day. But my bangs are a different story! Help! They get oily and stringy and gross, and I need to know how to prevent this! I use a light hairspray in the morning, b/c anything heavier looks like plaster. But I can’t re-spray, because it won’t “stick” to the greasy hair! So how do I prevent oily/greasy/limp hair?
btw: I use a volumizing shampoo, and minimal amount of product in order to not wiegh my hair down.

I’ve heard that Suave brand shampoo is VERY harsh on normal hair…
so with your hair, I think it would work well! You could also try getting a shampoo made specifically for stripping grease from your hair.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: The Gay Rights Fight

We never thought we’d see the day when an A-list rapper like Jay-Z would defend gay rights, let alone a champion fighter.
But following our reports on L.A.-based Manny Pacquiao’s anti-gay statements, future Hall of Fame boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. begged to differ.
He took to Twitter today and said this:
We think the stance is extra brave because … Mayweather is currently serving time at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas for domestic violence.
Kidding aside, however, he has joined a chorus of folks blasting Pacquiao, who cited his religion in condemning same-sex marriage.
Perhaps the Las Vegas brawler was just using the news to tease us for what would be the fight of the century: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

As we reported last month, Best Buy has been called to task by conservatives for its sponsorship of the Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR), a group that has been linked to the Hamas terror organization by the Federal government.
According to Islamist Watch, a project of the neoconservative Middle East Forum run by Arabist and political commentator Daniel Pipes, the struggling retail chain has “recently used profits from American consumers to fund the annual banquet of a group closely linked to Hamas.”
Now, Fox News reports that there is a budding movement to boycott the retail electronics chain due to its alleged ties to Hamas-linked groups.
Following the latest Fox News report on the boycott efforts, which have garnered 11,547 signatures on a petition against the chain and over 6,000 likes on Facebook, CAIR threatened to sue PetitionBuzz.com, which hosts the petition, and the site took down the petition for several hours. However, it was reinstated after “it was proven that the facts were true (truth is an absolute defense in defamation lawsuits),” the Middle East Forum stated.
CAIR, whose spokesman Ibrahim Hooper has said he wishes to see America ruled by Islamic Sharia law, was listed as an ”unindicted co-conspirator” in 2007 Holy Land Foundation fundraising case in which the Texas-based Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development was charged with funding Hamas.
Hamas, which targets civilians and which propagates an extreme anti-Semitic ideology, is chartered to destroy “Israel, [which] by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims.”
Although CAIR was not charged in the suit, the Federal government named the group as being linked to efforts to fund Hamas and other terrorist organizations and in being a member of “the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee and/or its organizations.”
Despite CAIR’s history, Best Buy has stated that it believes that is fostering diversity in its role as a “Platinum Sponsor” of the organization’s annual dinner.
Soap Dish: 2012 Daytime Emmy Nominations
It is Soap Dish time again my friends and this week I am dishing about the 2012 Daytime Emmy nominations! They were announced last week and I of course have some thoughts about the, as well as what the heck is going with the show being televised.
I am not going to give you the full list of nominees here because, well it came out like a week ago and I am pretty sure you already know who is nominated. I want to say that I am thrilled at how many nods General Hospital got as well as Days of Our Lives. Those are my two shows and I love them so it thrills me to see them leading the pack.
However I was a little sad that there were not more nominations for the now cancelled All My Children and One Life To Live. Although I didn’t want them religiously I did tune in for the last few months of each show and though there was some amazing work on each show that was not rewarded. I mean seriously Roger Howarth did some amazing work and he didn’t get a nod, so not happy about that at all. I just felt like there should have been more, for those two shows.
The nominations are announced,which is great but the questions looms will the awards even actually air live on television. As of now there is not a network currently attached to televise the awards show, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday June 23rd. Although I used to love watching the Daytime Emmys I must admit the past couple of years have sucked. The focus is no longer on Soap Operas and quite frankly that is the main reason I tune in. I want to see my favorite stars dressed to kill, I want to see show clips you know all that good stuff. So that being said if it is not on TV well I guess I won’t miss much.

Melissa Joan Hart: I Prepped and Planned for Pregnancy

Melissa Joan Hart‘s baby on the way already has her beat.
“[I'm] really exhausted. I don’t know if it’s [from taking care of] the two older ones, I don’t know if it’s because I’m older … but I feel so tired all the time,” the actress, 36, told PEOPLE at the Monday premiere of What to Expect When You’re Expecting in Hollywood, Calif.
“I’ve been in bed at 8:30 every night. I tell my kids, ‘Go put yourselves in bed. I gotta go to sleep.’”
But while she recognizes age may play a factor in her third pregnancy, Hart — who is mom to sons Mason Walter, 6, and Braydon Hart, 4 — did her part to prepare for the challenge.
“I was in really good shape before I got pregnant with this one,” she says. “I tried to set myself up. For about a year I made sure I took the right vitamins and didn’t take artificial sweeteners. I did take some precautions.”
Now in her second trimester, Hart has begun to feel the baby move inside her belly. And while she’s loving the “gentle” flutters for now, the Melissa & Joey star fears for her future.
“I feel like it’s going to be a strong baby,” she explains, “[but] if the kicks get stronger, I don’t know if I can handle it.”
But her little one’s moves don’t look like they’ll be slowing down anytime soon; Big brother Brady is already intent on teaching his boxing skills to the baby.
“The other day he was explaining to my belly how to do boxing. He was like, ‘Listen, here’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to go right, left, uppercut. Right, left,’” the mom-to-be says with a laugh.
After two strikingly different approaches to motherhood — she and husband Mark Wilkerson gave their eldest “so much attention” as a baby, which proved hard to repeat with their second — Hart is hopeful she will savor each second with the upcoming addition.
“Things like, ‘What’s this letter? What’s this color? What does a duck say?’ With Brady we kind of blurred over that because we had Mason, too,” she explains. “I hope with this one that we’ll be able to go back to really focusing on the little things.”

Spotted: Chris Hemsworth Steps Out with His Lovely Ladies

The Avengers may be blowing up the box office but Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the action-packed superhero film, is likely more interested in baby rattles than any magical hammer.
The actor and wife Elsa Pataky, who welcomed a baby girl last Friday, stepped out with daughter India Rose on Wednesday.
Married since 2010, Hemsworth, 28, and Pataky, 35, look as happy as proud new parents can be as they made their way through London’s Notting Hill neighborhood.
“I always liked Indie or Indiana for a boy, and she liked India. We went, ‘Oh well, whether it’s a boy or girl, that will decide.’ It just seemed to fit,” Hemsworth has said of their name choice.
