Is atheism only possible in developed, civilized nations that are out of touch with the beauty of nature?

Put away your fornication, drugs, alcohol and other filth away for just a moment and step outside for a religious experience. Look at the beauty of nature. Really look at it. Feel the breeze blowing through your hair and the warmth of the sun on your skin… There are just some things that “science” cannot explain… Nature isn’t a mistake.

I love nature.
“Feel the breeze blowing through your hair and the warmth of the sun on your skin…”
You don’t need a god for that.
“Nature isn’t a mistake.”
No scientist claims this.
You cannot fully explain anything. There is only an experience, the function of awareness. The truth is, we are all perfectly enlightened as we are. You just have to shift your vision…
You are as out of touch with reality as anyone I have ever seen in this forum.
A member of Westboro, I presume?
That was deep. False, but deep.
Go ask the secluded south american and african tribes that have had almost no contact with the outside world who jesus is. And I bet you’ll tell them they’re going to hell and call them filthy heathens too. So why didn’t your god speak to them?hmm? You won’t answer of course because you’re afraid to. You don’t want to be wrong. You believe an old dusty book so blindly that you can only see one dimension. I pity you.
“Educated”, that was the word you were looking for wasn’t it?
If beautiful things prove God, then does that mean that ugly, terrible things *don’t* prove God?
What if I walk outside but I don’t see a beautiful sunny day? What if I see a violent natural disaster instead? What does that prove?
Nature is more than just the trees and the lakes that run throughout one’s countryside.
To some, nature incorporates everything from gravity to electricity.
Lightning is a form of electricity…
Newsflash: Christians takes up around 90% of the prison population. They’re in for drugs, alcohol-influenced crimes and rape. Atheists takes up not even like… 0.3.
While nature may be nice and all, it isn’t proof of god’s existence.
And, while I would say yes to your question, I would think there are some people in undeveloped societies that are atheists.
Why don’t you keep in mind that atheism has been around just as long as religion has? If not longer. Why does religion only spread when there’s a group of people weak enough to be subjegated?
slavery
racism
crusades
burning people alive
beatings in church dungeons
stoning people to death
There’s your “filth”
NEXT!
And, science finally has proven God’s existence and as creator of all that there is. Read the following post at Truth Seekers and Speakers, “Prophecy’s Extra Oil Update 19: All Say 2012 & SCIENCE PROVES GOD”
The TSaS post archives are open to the public and therein you are quite likely to find the Biblical answer to any of life’s questions.

That doesn’t really compute. Every place on earth has gorgeous natural scenes. Have you ever been to the English countryside? It’s gorgeous. Ones appreciation of nature has nothing to do with whether or not that person believes in God.
You’re a funny hypocrite. Scientists love nature more than you do. You make no effort to understand it. They do.
no.
fail.
What makes you think that atheists believe they can explain everything?
Have You REALLY looked at nature? I know that I have – I can’t explain it all, but I do have a very good knowledge of many aspects.
The more I look at nature, the less I believe the idea that it was all created by a god – it was looking at nature that inspired Charles Darwin to come up with the ideas in On The Origin of Species.
No.
No. It is our development and civilisation that allows us to appreciate the natural world for what it really is, not some supernatural fantasy version involving imaginary creatures like gods and goddesses and demons and spirits and so on.
You are disgusting
Most of us are successful people with careers and well adjusted lives
You are one of these ”LOVING” christians which make us feel, your religion sucks and you are a 100% proof of it
Go on and report me, but you really should keep out of here if you have PERMANENTLY nothing positive to say
Science will be able to explain everything. Beauty outside makes me weep. And it is all science babe.
Science does explain these things.
I’m quite in touch with the beauty of nature. In fact, I am so enamored of it that unlike you, I do not have to pretend that magic beasties exist outside of nature. I can appreciate it as it really is and be completely blissed out by merely taking a walk through a grove of trees or next to a pond.
Meanwhile, what fornication? I a monogamous married woman.
What drugs? I take herbal supplements that do no damage to my body, I exercise and eat healthy food to feel good physically.
I don’t drink.
Filth? What filth? Do you mean sex? I’m a healthy adult. I cannot be in touch with nature and abstain from sex. Fvcking beats the hell out of the breeze blowing through my hair, hon.
Or do you mean the mess my kid and animal companions make? That’s nature too. I don’t mind a little dirt because it wipes up and as I said, I’m fairly in touch with nature.
You fail again.
EDIT: You forgot that nature includes Ebola virus, flesh eating bacteria, ectopic pregnancies, typhoons, wild fires, sharks, birth defects and little baby bunnies being ripped to shreds by foxes. That’s no accident either. That’s nature. Does it still prove your god?
The fact that I can have some amount of pleasure from feeling the warm sun on my skin in no way denotes that there is an imaginary sky fairy who put it there.
My dear Sundae, long time no troll!
I won’t even tire my fingers with typing a logical answer. All I’ll say to you is: Repent before Cthulhu eats your brain (what’s left of it anyway… all 3-4 cells that is)! All hail the Great Squid!
Um… wow the sheer galactic ignorance of this question is almost as offensive as the attack on atheists.
I find it amazing that a group of people that routinely try to force their views upon others “For their own good”, that feel they have the 100% monopoly on Truth and Right, that routinely deny scientific discoveries they find threatening, that have a nasty habbit of spawning people like the abortion clinic shooter, and finally that generally go out of their way to deny just how big and incredible the universe really is, how very awe inpiring, and mysterious it is can every suggest that atheists are close minded and out of touch.
Lastly, your final line reveals the sheer depth of your ignorance. The evolutionary process is not random. Mutations are random, natural selection acting on them is not at all random. The environment determines the selective pressures. So, for example, it’s also no accident that you share 40% of your genetic code with a chicken. But I’m gonna guess you didn’t know that.
Please meet some atheists. It seems that you’re drawing some pretty strange conclusions about us.
I don’t do drugs unless a doctor prescribes them to me. I only drink maybe two or three times per year–and rarely to the point of intoxication. The sex lives of others is their business, so I won’t touch on that.
As far as not being able to find beauty in nature… my favorite pastime is hiking, and I do so to be able to feel the wind on my face. To feel the sun on my skin. All the things you seem to think I can’t do.
For the record, very few atheists will tell you life–or the environment it lives in–is a mistake. We’ll tell you that it happened against tremendous odds. There’s a difference.
You are out of touch with reality. It is the “developed, civilized” nations that are the leading environmentalists. They also have, obviously, the most highly educated populations on earth. Atheism is “possible” anywhere. There are cultures where it isn’t acceptable to go public with your opinions. In this country, polls show that people will accept any religion in a political candidate, but they will not accept an atheist (or agnostic, I expect) as a candidate.
I am an agnostic, but I enjoy and respect nature, as in the breeze, the sun, the rain, etc. I don’t that these things are “proof” of the existence of a god, though. Bear in mind that “fornication” is also a totally “natural” process. After all, if you must use the bible as a source, tell me who married Adam and Eve? Nowhere does it say in genesis that they were married. And how many kids did they have?
