While you’re spending pre-Super Bowl hours excitedly planning your Dorito spread, Adam Levine has been busy getting fans hyped for the big event by performing at the Super Bowl XLVI Pepsi Fan Jam Concert in Indianapolis. The “Moves Like Jagger” singer made a surprise cameo during the Gym Class Heroes’ performance and was snapped awaiting compliments on how good he looks in a white t-shirt lending an ear to the audience. What a sweetheart.

In case you were wondering whether the Maroon 5 singer will be partaking in Super Bowl junk food gorging this weekend, based on this shirtless pic of Adam, we’re gonna have to answer with a big, flawless six-pack of “NOPE.” Besides, he’s going to be super busy wooing the audience with his own band while singing “Never Gonna Leave This Bed” during Fox’s pre-game show. If that’s not a good enough reason to watch football this weekend, we’ve got nothing else for you.

Jamie Lynn Spears may be kicking her music career into high gear, but says her number one priority is still her daughter Maddie Briann, 3½.

“These days, the only thing I’m afraid of is not being a good mom,” Spears, 20, tells Glamour in their March issue. “As long as Maddie is healthy and she loves me, the rest doesn’t matter.”

She’s been taking performance advice from her older sister, Britney, and says motherhood has helped to bridge the 10-year age gap between them.

“Maddie loves her Aunt Britney’s songs,” according to the younger Spears, who adds that her little girl often has playdates with cousins Sean Preston, 6, and Jayden James, 5.

“She loves dancing and singing and all of that. I definitely think music is in her genes.”

Spears said she’s using her own music to be honest about her pregnancy and how she feels about being a young single mother.

“That’s been the coolest thing — realizing that it’s okay to just be myself and really tell my story,” she tells the magazine. “I expect the scrutiny. The last time anyone heard anything of me, I was 16 and pregnant. All I can do is be my best — there will always be people who will never like me.”

As a teen, Spears says, she was embarrassed to see a doctor and ask for birth control — even more so because of her position as the star of Nickelodeon show Zoey 101.

“I was 16. I’d had one boyfriend. It doesn’t make it perfect or all right. But I was judged for something that probably most everyone does,” she notes. ”I was young. I was in love. I was like every other teenager, except I had this last name. And I made a decision that is forever my decision.”

But the backlash that Spears experienced when she announced that she was expecting still stings.

“I had to make a decision that I could sleep with every night,” she explains. “I did feel responsible for the young girls and the mothers who I probably confused and let down. I apologize for that. But I wasn’t trying to glamorize teen pregnancy. I hated when [the tabloids] said that. Everybody is dealt a hand of cards. It was my choice to play them the way I played them. But the hateful comments hurt.”

Spears soon found herself under the watchful eye of the media and moved from Los Angeles back to her home state of Louisiana. In June 2008, at age 17, she delivered her daughter.

“I just wanted to get away from it as much as I could … move to a town in the middle of nowhere and just raise my child. All I could be was a good mother. If anybody had anything to say after that, there was nothing I could do,” recalls Spears. “I was very OCD about Maddie at first. I didn’t want anybody to watch her or touch her. I wanted to do it all myself. I breastfed for almost a year; I couldn’t leave her at all.”

Though Spears and fiancé Casey Aldridge split in 2010, they are both fully committed to raising their daughter.

“I do wonder about how [Maddie] is going to feel about the fact that I was young when I had her and that her father and I aren’t together anymore,” she admits. “It’s sad because my and Casey’s love had to turn into an adult relationship so quickly. There’s a slim chance of two young people making it through high school and all that drama, but making it as parents?”

“We tried,” she says of her relationship with Aldridge, who takes care of their daughter one weekend a month. “We really wanted to do it right. We loved each other. I will love him as Maddie’s father until the day I die.”

As for dating? Spears says that’s not her number-one concern right now.

“I’ve been on dates here and there, going to dinner or a movie, but nothing further than that. I’m a mother first,” she explains. “I have a little girl, and until I’m serious about someone, he’s not going to be around her. … The one thing that does get me excited is one day having that relationship. I look forward to that — I really do.”

Glee-hee!

Who else has been having way too much fun saying Glee like that? Thanks, Chris Colfer. Tonight, Glee paid tribute to the King of Pop: Michael Jackson. That alone made the episode a season-three favorite for us, but we also got some verrry interesting plot developments along with the great musical numbers.

Let’s talk about the episode highlights, and we’ll give you a peek at what’s coming up…

WHAT WE LEARNED

Sebastian Is Evviiillleee: OK, we did giggle when we saw Blaine (Darren Criss) in an eye patch (the pirate jokes wouldn’t stop coming!), but that doesn’t mean we’re on Team Sebastian. Far from it. Sebastian (Grant Gustin) had to go and ruin an awesome dance-off with a slushie directly into Blaine’s eye, sending him to the hospital with an injury requiring for surgery. That really meant war.

While Sebastian being captain of the douche-brigade meant hurting our New Directions babies, it did lead to Mike and Artie (Kevin McHale dancing!) reenacting the “Scream” video and the Santana-Sebastian showdown in “Smooth Criminal.” Plus, the Klaine and Finchel scene in Blaine’s bedroom must have made fan bases explode, because it was très adorable. Basically, that awful human gave us the gift of awesome musical numbers. And guess what? Sebastian isn’t going anywhere, so prepare for more fireworks.

Speaking of fireworks: Samcedes lives! Thoughts?

Rachel Said Yes: We were kind of hoping she’d wait things out with Finn (Cory Monteith), “the love of her life,” but Ms. Berry (Lea Michele) wants to become Mrs. Hudson, so he officially put a ring on it! But then learned she was a finalist to get into NYADA, so that, combined with Quinn’s (Dianna Agron) speech, is definitely going to make this engagement messy. It wouldn’t be Finchel without some bumps in the road. At least fans can rest assured that he said he’d be following her to New York, so she won’t be giving up any of her dreams. Rachel belongs on Broadway, after all! Sidenote: Remember how Cory told us this episode would pick up immediately with Rachel’s answer via song? Yeah, we don’t know how that happened to that either.

Kurt (Chris Colfer) is also a NYADA finalist, which makes us so happy because we loooove Kurt and Rachel’s friendship. Gotta keep them together! We did not, however, like how quickly Rachel spun Kurt’s elation into a sob story about her future. Hey, we get it, it’s tough to be a high school senior, and it’s hard to be happy for someone when your dreams aren’t coming true, but c’mon, Rach! Pull it together for a just a second for your friend. But we got to see Lea Michele act her butt off, which is always a good thing. And at least Kurt’s dad Burt (Mike O’Malley) was there to pick up on the excitement slack. O’Malley makes us cry every time he’s in a Glee episode! We both hate and love him for it.

Quinn Says Goodbye: Fans of every Quinn coupling got a moment to reminisce as our former head cheerleader said goodbye to her ties to Finn, Puck, Sam and all of her past. She got into Yale, early admission, and if we didn’t know that Dianna Agron was still recording songs and filming, we’d take this episode as a complete wrap up for Quinn! But we know she’ll be back. It’s nice to see Quinn come full circle and offer real advice to Rachel. Now we know why Rachel and Quinn as a pair are still in competition for our annual TV’s Top Couples tournament. Side note: Dianna looked positively gorgeous during her number. It’s not even fair.

Mr. and Mr. Berry: Finally, we get to meet the two men who raised the one and only Rachel Berry. Just check out your first look at Jeff Goldblum and Brian Stokes Mitchell as Rachel’s two dads, Hiram and Leroy. They’ll be guest starring in the Valentine’s Day episode, and thankfully, we’ll be treated to a daddy-daughter number just in time for V-Day. And rest assured, Klaine fans, Darren Criss also will be in the Valentine’s Day episode. He won’t be around as much as you’d probably like, but what counts is that his lovely face will grace our screens come Feb.14.

Samuel Larson Descends on McKinley High: The Glee Project winner has started filming his guest role, and although Ryan Murphy had previously stated that he might be playing a relative to Puck, we’re hearing things have changed. We hear that people on set were really surprised by Larson, but we don’t know if they were surprised by his talent or by his character. Back in the summer, after he already knew he had won, but before the world knew, Larson told us he’d like to play the janitor who also happens to be great rock singer. Well, we don’t have to wait much longer to see his dreads in action.

Shake Your Bon-Bon: We welcome anything that invites hottie Ricky Martin onto our television screens, so we’re very much looking forward to next week’s episode “Spanish Teacher.” Just-released photos have the pop star looking better than ever, and trust us when we say that everyone, and we mean everyone, will be crushing hard on his character, David Martínez. Oh, except for Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison). Better brush up on your español, gang, because sometimes subtitles won’t be there to help you. Oh, and the Sue wants a baby storyline? Ricky will be involved with that, too.

Yo, Justin Bieber, this is not how you hide from the paps! The Biebs was spotted arriving at Nice Airport in France for the NRJ Music Awards, and the “Somebody To Love” singer looked like he was trying to dodge the photographers who were waiting for him to step off the plane. But Justin, don’t pick a bright yellow hat next time you’re trying to stay inconspicuous! (Also, who are the Steelers? Sports, LOL.)

Yellow hats are meant for construction workers and that dude that hung out with Curious George. If Justin’s entering his “hiding from the paparazzi” phase, what he needs is a year’s supply of black beanies. Or maybe some of those Groucho Marx masks. They won’t exactly make you blend in and they do give off a little bit of a serial killer vibe, but at least no one can see your face under them? (P.S. We are like, really good at giving advice.)

Once Demi Moore pulled out of The Linda Lovelace biopic the search was on for a new Gloria Steinem. Immediately the names of a number of Hollywood’s hottest leading ladies were being tossed around as replacements for Moore, including my girl Mary-Louise Parker. Well as it turns out none of the ladies that were being talked about in the role got it. In what I think is a very surprising choice Sarah Jessica Parker will take on the role vacated b Demi.

Parker will join her former Sex and The City co-star Chris Noth along with Amanda Seyfried, who is actually playing Lovelace, James Franco who will take on the role of a young Hugh Hefner, Sharon Stone, Wes Bentley, Chloe Sevigny and Peter Sarsgaard. It is quite a crew that Parker is joining but I have to say I find her a rather odd choice for the role. Not only because I thought Moore would be perfect in it but also because I just don’t see Parker as the infamous activist and author. I could picture Demi as well as Mary-Louise in the role but Sarah Jessica, I am having a hard time believing that her as Steinem.

I am huge fan of the woman who will forever be Carrie Bradshaw to me, I really am and I am seriously rooting for her to kick but in this film. I am simply saying that I find her a rather odd choice. I guess until I actually se her work though I won’t know if the decision to cast her was good or bad so now I stand by odd.

If you think you’ve got a good “gaydar”, that is, the ability to divine someone’s sexual orientation from a casual glance in their direction and nothing more, it may have less to do with some preternatural sixth sense and more to do with the shape of that person’s face, according to a new study.

The new study showed that people who identified as heterosexual tended to have more symmetrical faces than those who self-identified as homosexual. Furthermore, some 40 subjects were presented with photos of 60 people in the study by an evolutionary psychologist. Those asked to look at photographs of subjects considered those with symmetrical faces to be heterosexual more often than not.

“We were surprised to find that symmetry played a larger role than masculine/feminine features in assessing sexual orientation,” says the lead researcher, who notes that “the ability to assess the sexual orientation of others may be an adaptive trait. In terms of mate selection and romance, it’s crucial to recognize” sexual orientation. Furthermore, the study states:

“We found differences in measures of facial symmetry between self-identified heterosexual and homosexual individuals, [...] We also found that the more likely raters perceived males as being attracted to women (i.e. holding more of a heterosexual orientation), the more symmetrical the males’ facial features were.”

Though not statistically relevant, straight women tended to be more symmetrical.

They say beauty is based on symmetry. I’ve also heard women bemoan that “all the hot guys are gay”. Have hope, single ladies. Doesn’t look like that last part is true at all!

One of the downsides of diabetes- aside from the serious complications, of course- is the introduction of dietary restrictions for people who may not have ever had to monitor their food intake officially- alcohol, sugar and carbohydrates can affect the condition, but what about coffee?

Americans in particular have a strange, nearly masochistic relationship with coffee- the comedian Jerry Seinfeld once pointed out that we so revere the beverage that we call the machine that makes it “Mister.” And indeed, coffee is one of the first things to come under fire when we tend to review our waistlines, our budgets, our heart health- it seems that being such a pleasure, it has to be suspect.

It turns out, we’ve known for a while that a certain level of coffee consumption reduces your risk of Type 2 diabetes by up to 50% when coffee consumption is four or more cups a day. For each additional cup of coffee consumed, risk drops another 7%. But a recent study by Chinese researchers published in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry examines why coffee drinkers can cut their diabetes risk so sharply, and the study found certain compounds in coffee inhibit hIAPP (human islet amyloid polypeptide), which is tied to an increase in diabetes risk.

Researchers concluded that if you enjoy coffee, you should drink up- although it’s probably not a great idea to drink frappuccinos all day if you’re worried about diabeted. The study says:

“These findings suggest that the beneficial effects of coffee consumption on type 2 diabetes may be partly due to the ability of major coffee components to inhibit the toxic aggression of hIAPP. A beneficial effect may thus be expected in regular coffee drinkers.”
